MOJITO RECIPE: 5 EASY STEPS
A Mojito is a traditional Cuban highball which literally means 'something wet'. It is made of five ingredients: white rum, sugar (traditionally sugar cane juice), lime, carbonated/soda water and mint. The combination of sweetness, refreshing citrus and mint flavors are intended to mask the potent kick of the rum, and have made this clear highball a popular summer drink.
Mojito Ingredients
- 4 mint leaves
- 1 teaspoon powdered sugar
- Crushed ice
- 2 ounces (60ml) white rum
- 2 ounces (60ml) lime juice (squeezed from lime)
- 2 ounces (60ml) club soda
Step 1
Place the mint leaves into a tall cocktail glass.
Step 2
Squeeze about 2 ounces (60ml) of juice from a cut lime into the glass.
Step 3
Add the powdered sugar and then gently mash the ingredients together with the back of a spoon.
Step 4
Add crushed ice and 2 ounces (60ml) white rum then stir.
Step 5
Top off with 2 ounces (60ml) club soda.
There you have it - an authentic Cuban Mojito. Enjoy!
