How to make a Screwdriver cocktail

SCREWDRIVER COCKTAIL RECIPE
The orange juice in a Screwdriver makes this drink the perfect cocktail for brunch. As for the origins of this drink the most popular opinion is that it acquired its name from a US oilman who was allegedly seen stirring a vodka & orange juice with his screwdriver. Another less heard theory claims the name is linked to N.E. Beveridge’s account in Cups of Valor where US marines attempted to make their own gin whilst stationed at Tientsin in 1945. They used an 18inch screwdriver to stir their brew, which soon became known as screwdriver gin…

The Screwdriver is still a popular drink today and has also formed the base of a range of other creative interpretations such as: The Harvey Wallbanger and the Sloe Comfortable Screw.

Screwdriver Ingredients
- 60ml (2 oz) vodka
- 150ml (5 oz) orange juice

Step 1
Build the ingredients in a highball glass with ice
Step 2
Stir well (with a clean screwdriver?) before serving
Step 3
Garnish with an orange slice

Screwdriver Tip:
To make your Screwdriver even better, use freshly squeezed orange juice
